Hello! This is the first website I've made in the past 20 years, and I've forgotten anything I ever knew about HTML or programming or anything else I'd need to know to do this.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I teach at my home studio. Started with violin and viola, then branched out to beginning guitar, electric, mandolin, and uke, not necessarily in that order. It always amazes me that people want to pay me lots of money to teach them instruments I've never performed on (except that one high school talent show when I made up a song, sang it with my guitar and got 2nd place).
I've played violin since 1960 when I started 3rd grade at the age of 7. I have (almost) always known I would be a professional musician when I grew up - except that one year when I quit violin in the 9th grade and volunteered with the Ft. Buchanan veterinarian in Puerto Rico. I went back to music when I got the D in one of the spring quarters in biology - because my dog ate my marigolds and my science project went belly up.
I took up guitar to fill the hole the violin left, signed up for chorus, and later on when we were in Texas, got out the ole fiddle and tried out for the San Antonio Youth Symphony - and made first chair! But I didn't have a private teacher, and the teacher I was sent to switched me to viola. FIRST chair viola, but not what I'd been used to as concertmistress!
A viola performance degree later (UNT) I entered the Air Force Band in Washington, DC and have been in this area (mostly) ever since! My 3rd marriage is working out swimmingly. The kids are 30 and 36, and both about to have birthdays. Older one is in CA and younger one is in Maryland, and I'm still close to both with all their foibles and life lessons (and mine)!
